Hey folks: Hope you are all having a lovely summer.
Everyone in DMH has been traveling to see friends or family the last few weeks, but we are getting ready for a private party August 31 in Arlington and a public one September 2 – more details on that to come. For the rest of the year, we’ll play two or three shows per month, and will be rolling out a bunch of new material. Hope to see you at a gig!
Mark your calendars for April 27, 2013! Dead Men’s Hollow is among the acts at this young and growing music festival that drew more than 3,000 attendees last year. Also on deck to perform: Bob Perilla and Big Hillbilly Bluegrass, the Hackensaw Boys, Hollertown, By & By, Split String Soup and King Street Bluegrass. All the details here!
At the Athenaeum on Old Town Alexandria, we’ll be part of a fascinating event featuring actors in costume – and in character – reading letters written during the Civil War, interspersed with music from DMH – some tunes of the period, some band originals. More details to come!
And it’s lovely!
Check it out on the Alternate Root’s site.

… this time with Cletus & Lori, a contemporary folk duo from Northern Virginia with 12, count ’em, 12 WAMMIES under their belts. Mark your calendars for this 11/4/12 show at one of the best listening rooms in the DC area.
All the details of this co-bill are here.
We look forward to our return engagement playing for the residents of Greenspring, a retirement community in Springfield, Va.
It’s our fourth appearance at this gorgeous, family-friendly *and* dog-friendly winery in Delaplane, Va. We’re playing from 6-9pm, so bring a picnic, sip a glass of vino and take in the beautiful views. Barrel’s Oak Web site is here.
Dead Men’s Hollow returns from a summer hiatus by officially releasing our fifth album, “A Dead Men’s Hollow Christmas.”
The CD began as an invitation from National Media Services in Front Royal, VA to record an album of Christmas material that they could use to promote and showcase their recording, mixing and mastering capabilities. It turned into a band challenge to come up with some new original material in addition to crafting DMH arrangements for a few traditional carols. The result is a mix of selections that range from humorous to madrigal in a holiday-themed package.
“A Dead Men’s Hollow Christmas” will be available at our gigs at the Athenaeum in Alexandria on September 13, the Bluemont Fair on September 16, and at Barrel Oak winery on September 29. Mark your calendar for our CD release party at the Hill Center on Capitol Hill on Sunday, December 2.
